When Elvis died in 1977 I cried like everyone else. Soon after, I wrote, "Good-Bye Elvis." I sent my lyrics to NASHCO Productions in Nashville so my words could be set to music and vocals. For a $400 fee I received 100 pressings of the 45 speed records. I gave some of them to family and friends, and the rest were auctioned off to people at our local WWON radio station. I know one of my records ended up in Japan!

My husband and I lived in Dyersburg, Tennessee for three years, and I was lucky enough to visit Graceland in Memphis several times...one time on Christmas Eve. It was a very special moment - I loved Elvis...

 GOOD-BYE ELVIS

The wheel of life spins 'round and 'round
In a universal dance,
Life is a game you have to play
Step up and take a chance.

Nature rules this earthly game
It's up to you to choose,
Some are lucky - some are not-
You either win or lose.

Elvis didn't really die-
He took a chance and won,
All he did was say good-bye
His earthly duties are done.

Don't think of him with thoughts of loss
And don't feel too awfully sad,
Because you cannot ever lose
Something you never really had.

We still have his music
In memory- "let it be,"
Elvis will live inside our hearts
In shades of immortality.

When you listen to his music
And feel that your souls are bound,
It will mean that you and he together
Are enmeshed in the web of "cosmic sound."

The wheel of life spins 'round and 'round
In a universal dance,
Maybe you'll win-maybe you'll lose
But you have to take a chance.

Elvis didn't really die-
He took a chance and won,
All he did was say good-bye
His earthly duties are done.
